beginning was cute. this was fine until the hate crime. also in the book, nathan is alive and they run away together since they’ll both probably be outed. meaning they’re alive. the movie shows the ending as a possible dream? as if maybe nathan is dead or maybe he’s not? it completely takes out the happy ending for no good reason. there was finally a story where the gays don’t die at the end but they decided to go OUT OF THEIR WAY to make it an unhappy ending. i’m mad
