    This feels a lot more three dimensional and human than many other documentaries I've seen discussing similar topics, I think just by nature of the fact that it was produced by its subject. Being that she knows herself, she's able to portray a much more honest and personal recounting of events where her happiness and fun comes through just as much as the deep-set pain, trauma, and turmoil of the conflict.

    I appreciate that more layered and compassionate presentation greatly.

    This movie really set itself up to be the sort of movie I find exceedingly tedious and frustrating. The sort of movie that attempts to be meaningful and entertaining just by being awfully downtrodden and never allowing anything nice to happen. The sort of movie that ends with some sort of half-hearted attempt at a happy ending where everything still goes wrong, but this time the characters smile while it happens.
