  Eggers lays it on thick in his adaptation of Nosferatu, which cranks up the expressionist style to an eleven and never lets up. It’s a good adaptation of the material, if a bit over-steeped in surreal, gothic aesthetics. It’s unrelenting in its darkness, which may make it difficult for some to find any semblance of levity, but it ultimately befits the film Eggers sought to make.
