  like its fine but it’s literally just that: fine. it didn’t need to be so long and so devoid of color and magic, idk. i’ve never seen the musical, so this is quite literally my first introduction to it, but to me this doesn’t really breathe much life into the story. i feel like i’m reliving barbie movie all over again, where everyone’s raging about it, and then it turns out it’s exactly what i thought it would be and nothing more, definitely not something that will stay with me for long.

  this sure has its bits and pieces of irony but more than anything i found it to be very sharp and sincere, both in the exploration of struggle with faith in general, but also trust in ourselves and each other. the constant ghost of uncertainty haunting the narrative, just as the late pope is. i also found this to be gorgeously shot (altho i cant claim to know much about that). i enjoyed the ending, although i wish lawrence’s struggle…

  i don't know how i feel about this.. it's beautifully-made and well-acted, for sure, but narratively and thematically it just feels a bit too rigid. it's just very devoid of emotion, while simultaneously expressing a lot of it, or at least giving us the impression that it is? both count orlok and willem defoe's characters feel almost cartoonish, to the point that i felt like i was watching two different movies simultaneously. pacing-wise it also felt too long to me.…
