It genuinely blows my mind that people enjoy this movie. The plot is absurd and none of the tunes are remotely enjoyable. I don’t understand the message of the movie, whom we are expected to root for, or what it has to say about any of the subjects it superficially brings up, such as (trans) identity, the inevitability of government corruption, and the influence of life circumstance on morality. This might be because the movie does very little to help…

Superbly acted, but I had trouble caring about the intrigue being developed. I wondered how much the spicy shake-ups here and there were meant to mask the dullness of the actual character drama. Was the ending actually a huge revelation for anyone?

I give it an extra half point for adapting the “I’m Rey… Skywalker” line from the Star Wars sequel trilogy for the fresh pope.

Everything about this movie sucks. Nicholas Cage’s *Longlegs* character sucks, and the performance makes Jared Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad seem nuanced by comparison.  The plot sucks. The *big twist* sucks, and is so contrived and asinine that its reveal carries no weight. Also, the movie isn’t scary. The reviews on here and elsewhere saying people were disturbed after seeing it blow my mind.

Anyone who compares this movie to Hereditary, ain’t no friend of mine.

Not the movie you think it will be if you think the movie will be Grease. To the extent that Grease is not a gritty portrait of working class hopelessness and racial intolerance. Am I wrong in thinking this movie is mis-remembered as a feel-good movie because of its (amazing) soundtrack?

    Absolutely worth watching.
