Behind Enemy Lines 2001
This was a trip to watch immediately after The Royal Tenenbaums. Owen Wilson went from the goofy drugged out paramour to an all American fighter pilot who craved real danger. Gene Hackman went from emotionally unavailable distant dad to “fuck the brass I can’t leave a man behind” admiral. It’s a war movie funded by the DoD I should not expect great writing here. Cool scenes with explosions sure haha I’ll join the marines now. America is a peace keeping nation oh most definitely.
Cool fact though. This movie gave us Niko Bellic in GTA 4, so that’s something.

My favorite character Gene has played. Nice to see him in a lighthearted role when most of his movies seem to be the tough guy or retired military ect. I gotta say it hits different now that I’m closer to the “kids” ages. Family can be hard to deal with, but also important to deal with as well.
