  Keep people coming back and they eventually lose. Life is a casino. America is a casino. Casinos are a casino. Doing the narration of a Scorsese movie is a casino.

  The guy who plays it safe and demands some fairness is always gonna be left hobbled and spooked but alive. Meanwhile they kill Joe Pesci for being too fun and random in a place that’s supposed to be fun and random and replace him with a big weird sphere paid for with junk bonds

  Right when the first notes of the opening scene played I was like “huh this sounds exactly like that Johnny Greenwood classical song. That seems kinda cheap.” But it turns out he made the soundtrack for this so I guess it’s not plagiarizing. Anyway the moral of the story is that I am incredibly knowledgeable about film scores and guessed that the Radiohead guitar guy did this one. 

  Side note: if you did the costuming for this movie hmu cuz I want to dress like Daniel Plainview everyday of my life despite the Mephistophelean implications

  A movie that begs the age-old question: can you separate the art from the other parts of the art that are reactionary (pseudo-reactionary?) and not as good as the action parts? 

  Unfortunately for my brain it seems the answer is hell yes.
