A really good movie on its face, but truly filled to the brim with existentialist undertones, and the more you learn about the behind-the-scenes processes (about which the Criterion edition provides heaps of information, from insight into the source material, to the scoring and special effects, to the struggles and obstacles faced by the director and production teams, and even the context of the film's release relative to other sci-fi films of its time), the more impressive and historically significant this one feels. I'll be excited to revisit this one a hundred times more over my lifetime.

Trick 'r Treat 2007
Welp, I've got a new annual Halloween staple. The perfect Halloween movie exists, and it's this kitschy, campy masterpiece. If you don't like this movie, it's because you didnt watch it on Halloween, when its power is greatest.
P.S. I would die for Rhonda. If Dougherty still makes that sequel, I wanna know what she's up to these days.
