No other notes on this banger other than it could have been 30-45 minutes shorter and that damn cape got about 5 feet longer once homegirl was cgi-ed into the air. Otherwise a complete and utter slay (I will be trying to hit that last riff of defying gravity everyday for the next 2 months)

The Boy and the Heron 2023
Beautiful and fantastical as any Miyazaki is but I also feel like it had a lot of details and character concepts we have seen before in his other work that does not make this one stand out in particular. The herons constant back and forth from humanoid to bird was a cool touch for me from an animation stand point. But yeah a bit all over the place and underwhelming compared to other work.
