There was a genuine stylistic movement going on in 2000s and early 2010s Indian cinema between movies of Mysskin, Vetrimaaran, RGV and Kashyap. This depopulated, concrete, nocturnal city that is a constant setting for a lot of their movies. Mostly in throes of crime. Their solitary nature leading to heightened tension and dread for the protagonist because you never know who the next shadow will reveal itself to be.
