truly stunningly made film from the production design (all red and black) to the stellar acting performances of some the greats. I liked the subtlety of the plot and the lack of shock factor but rather the reliance on the strength of the script and the performances. I didn’t think i’d like it as much as I did.

The Brutalist 2024
a gorgeously made and heartbreaking film about the immigrant experience in america. focusing on the Hungarian jewish experience of an architect trying to make his way and the numerous obstacles he faces including the struggle of bringing his wife and niece to america along with drug addiction and even rape (spoiler alerts due to trigger warning). Ultimately it’s a story of power and corruption in America and how we take immigrants for granted especially those who literally built our country.
