  This movie really screams first-world country perks. 

  To imagine a similar scenario to happen (hope not) in a third-world country, clearly the survival rate of the passengers and all crew involved are far less than this. The immediate response and resources for emergent events such as this would not have been as available for every other country, especially in third-world countries.
