  I went in this with very low expectations so I was pleasantly surprised that it was better than expected. Dialogue was super clunky and cliched, some plot points didn’t make sense and were not explored such as Nicole Kidman’s characters upbringing in a weird cult?? We never got to that bottom of that….anyway Harris Dickinson is hot

  Wowzas! What an introduction to Alice Rohrwachers world! It was just delicious to see a film that effortlessly stands in the magical neo-realism genre. Rohrwacher has such control over the form. Every risk works. A beautiful, poetic and at times very weird exploration of a man dealing with grief and his supernatural ability to spot where ancient tombs are buried. Just magic.

  I really loved this film. I got swept up in the humour, the charm, the outlandish adventures and the tinsel in Anora’s hair. However, upon further reflection I was disappointed with the total lack of backstory of the title character. Who is Anora? Why does she do the things she does? Why does she not like to speak Russian or use her full name? What are her dreams and desires other than wanting to stay married to the rich mama’s…
