I never make genuine reviews here; I’m on Letterboxd for a goofy time—it’s my happy place.
However, the thing with ANORA is that, for as much as I loved Mikey’s performance, and did find the film entertaining with plenty to say, there’s ultimately a deep Orientalism there. Yes, Mikey learned Russian for it and yes they hired Russians and Armenians (more on that later; yikes), but neither of that overlooks the meat of the beast we see here.
