  The general consensus seems to be a lot of spectacle and not much substance, and unfortunately I'd have to agree. It really did feel like Mendes had the idea for a one-shot war film first and foremost in mind and went with the first story to come along which would fit the concept.

  Beautifully shot with a equally evocative soundtrack. I spent most of film being reminded just how compelling good visual storytelling can be.

  As my first film for the festival, this made me even more keen for the next two weeks (if that's even possible)
