  The story itself was beautiful, as was the cinematography. I struggled to connect with the characters, though—especially Maurice. I felt protective over him at times and despised him at others, and I do not really know how to feel about him even now that the movie is over; same thing goes to Alec. I think many scenes were rushed/the cuts between scenes were too sudden and I would have liked knowing for whom I was rooting at some point.

  I showed up yesterday at the cinema not knowing that I had booked tickets for a press screening, so you can imagine my shock when the Opera de Paris orchestra came onstage and started playing the songs from the musical, or when two actors dressed as María and Tony started singing Tonight from two balconies.
