  i expected sharp and sinister, but there’s too little here... unfortunately, the audio recordings that for some might enhance the dissociation of the film, was far too distracting and off-putting for me.

  i think i’m supposed to care about these paper-thin characters?? it’s just so bland, feels like it’s from the era of manic pixies and needless shock value. let the creativity of the violence and absurdity of the story shock me!! no need to call upon symbols of bigotry. reminded me of Baby Driver in its lack of depth and timeliness.

  even the relationship lacks substance and it’s supposedly the motivation for all this?? 

  more for Amber Midthunder and Jacob Batalon, both of whom are so charming in their performances despite a weak script, please!

  tldr; nah, mot for moi.

  i almost can’t believe i actually saw this movie, given how much it utterly terrified me. (translation: the jump scares are excellent - well-timed, visually disturbing, and integrated perfectly with sound design and score.)

  is it Skye’s state or her fame that throws the parasite into overdrive? 

  there’s so much meat here, thematically and formally. if i didn’t believe it would actually give me a fear-induced hernia to rewatch it, i’d put it on my annual spooky season list.

  what a wonderful, beautiful bad time!

  P.S. applause-worthy use of ensemble dancers.
