Thought the first 60-70% was genuinely engaging and tense, but at point I said outloud “okay…let’s wrap this up” I love some of Garlands work but I will be the first to admit that he can fall victim to the trap of ideas coming before the emotionality of his scripts and characters. As a result sometimes his films while rich with intellectual thought and symbolism still somehow feel thin and as if the characters are one dimensional vessels for ideas…
