It's been a while since I saw this, but I can't stop thinking about it. It's a hard movie, and definitely requires a pretty big commitment. But it sticks in my head, and seeing the trailer for Presence I can't help but think it was influenced by this movie

Left me wanting a bit more, but Hugh Grant was pretty great

Another that has been on my list for a long time, and I'm so glad I finally watched it (actually, just the first era...second will be soon). I've seen a lot of dramatizations and documentaries about the Holocaust, but this one is, by far, the most powerful to me. The firsthand accounts, told often in the places where the horrors occurred, were so moving, and so jarring, that I was riveted the entire time. It's beautifully shot, and the wide scope of who is being interviewed...victims, perpetrators, those who were complicit, those who were just unfortunate bystanders...makes it all the more poignant.
