I will admit that I went into this movie with a bias; as a Batman fan, I was stalwart that Joker doesn't need an origin story. I also don't think that 2019/2020 is the right climate to glorify a white man's acts of violence due to his feeling like an outsider. Joker did not dissuade me of those opinions.

This is my favorite genre of movie: humanity is the bad guy, men are trash, and women get to drive off into the sunset.
Having not seen this since I was a kid (for a homeschool class about film in which we also watched Maltese Falcon and Arsenic and Old Lace; that ruled?), I have written this off for the last 20 years as "nostalgia peaked" cinema that doesn't really hold up in the modern canon. I adored this movie. The strength of this movie is definitely on it's cast with the friendship between the two leads providing so much sincerity and grounding as the plot gets crazier and crazier. The chemistry between Dever and Feldstein is incredible and both are constantly sincere and hilarious. Can't wait for everything they do next.
Also: put Billie Lourd in EVERYTHING.
