This felt more brutal than the first, granted I haven’t watched that one in a while.
In this sequel (kinda), residents continue to take the prison’s hierarchy system for granted. Rules are enforced top-down, and you must rely on the benevolence and might of the people above you to survive.
Meanwhile, the platform goes down and anyone is free to descend with it.
I would love to see another instalment, but where inmates actually try something new.
If you’re watching this expecting a survivalist thriller, you’re going to be disappointed, like many reviewers here seem to be.
The narrative is centred heavily around the protagonist’s emotional journey overcoming past traumas, so much so that the physical journey feels a bit like an afterthought.
