Holds up spectacularly, and watching it feels like a witnessing a prophecy come true: a society saturated with narcissistic sociopaths desperate for overexposure. Fits right next to A FACE IN THE CROWD as a meditation on the desperation for fame.

The Stars and Stripes playing as Suzanne walks to her front step toward the TV cameras is perfect.

Incredibly stacked cast, and Kidman knocks it out of the park, but Illeana Douglas might be the MVP.

Oh no, must be the season of the witch.

Hackman owns this thing to an insane degree. RIP

Probably seen it double digit times and only now seeing Tony Scott's TRUE ROMANCE callback in the climax.

An insane cast with wild cameos and the sweatiest Tom Sizemore performance you could possibly imagine.

I've never seen so much wood paneling in my life.

Oregon really does seem like a terrifying place, and Alicia Witt's great and terrifying performance feels like it comes right out of the landscape.

A cool formal exercise and at times legitimately creepy. Unfortunately most of the time I was reminded that I wasn't watching ROSEMARY'S BABY or SILENCE OF THE LAMBS.

The details change over time but it was clear in 1957 just how rotten the culture of fame media and politics is.

Along with ACE IN THE HOLE and SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS a perfect trilogy of postwar/contemporary social pathologies.
