i hate telling on myself like this but this film hits soo many of my buttons lmao. weird bug typewriters. roach poison drugs. twinks. peter weller. the highest praise i can give is that i have been trying to sell this movie to my normie friends. "yeah there's huge bugs and they jack off this alien bug thing but it's ACTUALLY about the parallels between writing/creating and addiction!!" 5/5 no notes.

i can't stop thinking about this movie...there is a melancholy beauty that the french are so good at creating. it's grim but hopeful. beautiful but bleak. this nightmare fairytale that exists in a nowhere-land but feels real and grounded, somehow. much of this is thanks to the INCREDIBLE set and costume designs (gaultier??) and incredible score (angelo badalamenti the man you are)
