This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I can get why this failed so poorly in theaters. It lacked fighting and explosions. Particularly in sequels, audiences expect/need things to be BIGGER and MORE than before. But this one doesn't try for that. And it certainly isn't a batman film. People just had the wrong expectations, and that led to disappointment.

Ugh! Did not like this movie! And resent that so many people were buzzing about it. It started fine. Middle was fine. But then it just kept on getting more and more ridiculous that you can't take it seriously anymore. All the suspenseful and gross things that are supposed to ick you out lose their impact, because silliness takes over. It undoes all the effect, so that there's no horror anymore.
This film should have easily been cut at least…

Isle of Dogs 2018
Enjoyable, even if some critics point out its cultural appropriations. Perhaps it could have been more of an animated short instead of feature length. But then it would probably lose some of that characteristic Anderson magic. But regardless, the whole story is whimsy and fantastical, so there's no need to read too much into it, and just appreciate it for what it is.

A touching portrait of a broken family. The poster sucks because it’s misleading and makes it look like a sunny feel-good film. Those characters don’t really smile, after all. But that’s what makes the story a more honest telling of people who are struggling. And the movie still has a fair share of inspiring moments. A solid entry from the TV people, even though it had no promotion or marketing.
