Taste of Cherry 1997
I was really hoping to find something profound or inspiring within A Taste of Cherry. Instead, I can only question how a film so universally acclaimed could offer nothing new nor grand in response to one of life’s most-questioned moral dilemmas. This simply felt shallowly optimistic and I can’t help but be reminded of The Alchemist. Hopefully a later viewing can offer something more substantial.

The Substance 2024
Not since A Woman Under The Influence have I had such a visceral gut-wrenching reaction to a film. For almost the entire duration I squirmed and fidgeted in my luxurious Cinemark recliner; sporting a sh*t eating grin sure to concern those unfortunate enough to look my way. This is what David Cronenberg envisioned he would achieve with films like The Fly and Scanners, only better. I feel sorry for those who will wait until this releases on VOD as moments like the NYE scene will undeniably fall flat on a 43” Roku TV.

My god… rewatching this tonight was so unbelievably nostalgic.
