The Artist 2011
Figured I should log the films I’m watching in my film production class. The Artist does a good job of recreating the on-screen melodrama of pre-“talkie” actors and presents exactly why those actors would be reluctant to embrace sound: their voices aren’t nearly as interesting as their countenances. The performances by Dujardin and Bejo are quite stellar. Still, it wasn’t very exciting to me overall. When it ended I thought I had just finished a three-hour movie.
