The desire to dedicate a tribute film to one of the most incredible women in history is clear. And Cynthia is great. But Harriet deserved so much better than this tacky film.

All of Us Strangers 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
While certain artistic choices left me with an unscratchable itch, the moving storytelling of trauma, loneliness and grief swallowed me whole before eventually spitting me out as a wet, sobbing mess.
The symbolism of the empty building, Adam’s constantly hot forehead, Harry catching a glimpse of Adam’s mom, the ketamine sequence, the farewell meal, finding Harry… so thoughtfully done. No sensed pressure to be a perfect film, but rather the soft spoken strength to showcase the essence of human connection.

Anora 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I loved that we were left in the dark just as much as Ani was throughout the entirety of the film, immersing us in the confusion and frustration stirring within her. To close the film with yet another stranger and free of any soundtrack held so much needed space for Ani’s release and defeat. I just wish they gave her more background for deeper character development, and more credit as a human than just being a stripper with nothing left to lose.

Anatomy of a Fall 2023
Anatomy of a Fall highlighted two things for me: the system’s drive to settle with an often popular decision versus justly seek the truth, and how the microscopic analysis of complex human relationships can warp the way we see and share stories on those who are, in reality, mirroring many of the things we are inside, too.
Also mind blown by 1) how sassy the French court is (surely they’re not like that irl?!) and 2) the dog’s acting! How did he do that??
