This was an absolute delight; it's funny, frank and sweet about this kid dealing with being in a new city and and growing up, and all the stresses that comes with, but it also had loads under the surface. The parents, Barbara and Herb, dealing with antisemitism from the mum's family, the grandparents trying to choose a religion for Margaret and the parents trying to protect Margaret from that, and Barbara dealing with the impact of going from doing something…
Very silly and the humour doesn't entirely work, and the story doesn't hand together, but it was funny and slapstick, and relatively entertaining
This was a madcap delight about how dehumanising capitalism is! Naomi Ackie's rage in several scenes was utterly cathartic. I loved the argument this film makes for the dignity of people and animals, whilst also giving Robert Pattinson free reign to be a weird little guy!
I was really hoping I would enjoy this, having seen the original a lot but never checking out the others (bar Resurrections a couple of years ago).
