Truly impressive. This will be the definitive version of the story moving forward. From story, to sets, costumes, performances, it is all rigorously considered.
There's moments of true discomfort and horror. Eggers manipulates and maintains that tension expertly, it's an ability that he has been developing and now the maturity he has earned over his past films is unlocked here.
I was expecting a whole lot more.
Extremely formulaic, the most save-the-cat movie I have seen in a long while. It is all extremely well-done. Andy Serkis has always been a great Caesar and his charisma as a motion-capture performer has always been impressive and the best things about these movies.
Matt Reeves does a ton with a little, he's a great director, making the most out of what he's been given with this franchise.
But this movie is bloated…
Mixed results. It's following a well-trod formula. Beautiful Soviet spy, follows her story, her motivations, and leads us down a mystery that has us as the audience questioning her loyalties and trying to figure out where she ultimately lands or gets out of her situation.

I was always going to like this, but its a bit over-stuffed, particularly compared to most James Gunn works.
There's a few things I could have done without like the heist, that could have been cut down a ton, it took way too long and did very little to advance the story. It was just a lot of empty action fat.
What I could have used a lot more of was Adam Warlock, his arc, was under-cooked, and deserved more…
