Gru said it himself. It’s not a bad film, I just love the first two so much, that the direction this one took disappoints me. Steve Carell voicing Gru is great. Steve Carell voicing Gru and his twin brother Dru… not so much. The plot and villain were both fine, they have nothing on the first two films though. Lucy’s heroics saved this from falling into mediocrity. Lucky the “Unicorn” was the best part.
Gru’s full name is Felonius Gru, which means his brother’s name is Dru Gru. That goes hard.

This would work much better if the initial relationship had a shred of sincerity to it. Hard to get behind a relationship that starts off like that. No chemistry, no depth, no reason to care about these two. Nonstop action doesn’t equal a genuine relationship. These two didn’t do one sincere thing together.
This did get interesting when the Russian goons came to hunt down Ivan and Ani. Her screams got very annoying, very fast though. Igor was cool I guess.
I think Anora’s got attitude issues. Her vocabulary could use some refinement too.
