Takes a little bit to get going but once it does it becomes one of the classic detective films. Great twists and fun story and action to go along with it. I’ve never seen Willem Dafoe in a movie where he looks young, so that is weird to see here.

Kicking and Screaming 1995
Should be a required watch if you are between your sophomore and senior year in undergrad. The dialogue is fantastic and it’s this kind of writing that keeps me a sucker for movies like this. I love when the dialogue feels like real conversations that can take place but also makes you think. Thoughtful and funny characters and a classic plot with fun development. How comedy movies should work instead of trying so hard to be funny.

Asteroid City 2023
I haven’t gone to a theater and walked out feeling something in a while. This movie was so warm but also attacked some interesting topics in a creative and roundabout way while still making it feel enjoyable. It’s Wes Anderson so of course it’s beautiful to watch and the cinematography is at its best. The story itself, outside of the meanings and such, was compelling and enjoyable and the writing is so clever, weaving comedy into what feels so otherwise…
