    Tux and Fanny

    ★★★★

Despite the occasionally meandering sense of pacing thanks to its episodic nature, I think Tux and Fanny is a special type of tender, wholesome movie. It isn't just the distinct yet restrained animation, lovely score, and pleasant atmosphere, but the characterizations of Tux and Fanny are ones I don't see too often in these movies. These characters have an infectious bond particularly because of their dry yet genuine dialogues that leave a mark to the viewer - plus the silly…

    Twin Peaks: The Return

    ★★★★★

It's a testament to how something so aggressively downbeat and difficult can make for such an engrossing and masterful piece of media. Movie or television show.

Return almost feels like an ambitious milestone that could've easily fallen into smug, incompetent crap. There are elements that indicate this (off-putting effects, slow and meditative scenes, mental instability of preexisting characters), but under Lynch's hand these far-out elements, plot threads, and heavy tonal shifts turn the show into something gripping, thoughtful, and passionate.…

    ★★

Watched at the risk of rewarding myself a "fell for it again" award with Korine's EDGLRD movie bullshit, but surprisingly I didn't hate this. Still too long for what it is, and more violent action might actually help push the gross, sloppy, nihilistic live-shooter twitch stream vibe better, but it feels considerably less lazy than Aggro Dr1ft with its editing and visuals (despite more AI usage - contradictory, I know). Somewhat better soundtrack, a coherent-enough point, etc. More interesting in theory than in execution, but I wasn't left in a depressive state like his last one in how uninspired and empty it felt.

    Goodbye Uncle Tom

    ★★

    (Director's Cut)

Frequently boring, overlong, oddly structured, loves exploitative shock value, and I can't find an HD copy of this film. Yet, I can't help but tip my hat for a movie that's relentlessly, ruthlessly fucking ugly over the subject of racism in the slavery age and its use of slave owner's dialogue regarding their justifications. Some of the shit stated here are things I've heard on Twitter!

Anyways, the brutal depiction of violence and language, as well as the…

Just a lil note: I remember taking my dad to see this in theaters over a second viewing of Wall-e. I will never forget the broken, hopeless look on his face after leaving.

That's all. I like those little memories, they're funny.
