A movie that scratches my wife’s disaster movie itch is a good movie in my book.

Deadpool & Wolverine 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
1. The Cavillrine is the stuff of (wet) dreams.
2. Might’ve convinced me to power through my Marvel fatigue to at least watch one more movie to find out why Thor was crying.

I watched this shortly after going to the WWI museum in Kansas City and it absolutely scratched the itch I had after leaving there. The continuous shot look is very impressive (I felt like I was playing Where’s Waldo looking for where they hid the cuts). Epic scale of shots, genuinely heart-wrenching moments, and intense action scenes. One explosion in particular made me jump like hell. I also loved seeing some big name British actors, especially since I was not expecting them until they showed up on-screen. I would definitely recommend and would watch again.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 2024

The movie is has patience with its pacing, which is something I felt like in needed at the time. Would I appreciate it as much on a rewatch? Maybe not so much, but this was a solid entry in an already fantastic reboot.
I felt like the him being followed by his father’s eagle was very poetic and had a very good payoff in the end. Wish I could have seen more of Proximus, I loved how he poisoned Caesar’s teaching (maybe even tainting his legacy for apes to come) for his personal gain. I will be eagerly awaiting more.
