First half is tremendous - it builds patiently and atmospherically. Soundtrack goated. Cinematography goated. Guy Pierce goated. Second half in retrospect was mostly justified but at the time felt more meandering - with the length, I think it needed more of a clear feeling of progression. Ending incredibly jarring. I have been persuaded it has merit but I disliked it nonetheless. Overall the film had vision, it felt like cinema. Goodum!
