Fitzcarraldo 1982
A film like nothing I’ve seen before. I watched this after reading herzogs biography and that gave it a crazy context.
It’s a film and a documentary. The earliest video record of a lot of these places. A true story in real locations with little to no control of the filming environments. All of the extras just seem like local people, there faces so unusual and unkown to me.

Yes it does live up to it’s ridiculous reputation
The use of VHS is very well intergrested usually find the comparison between the two jarring and cheesy but it is very intelligently don’t and greatly helps amplify the story
The performances are spectacular particularly from the little girl not sure what all the Paul mescale fuss about he’s good sure but it’s not mind blowing
The end is both moving and thought provoking

Can’t think of many ways this film could have been improved
- mind blowing performances all around particularly from the protagonist and Jeremy strong
- simply shot not taking away from key points of story
- production design was perfectly periodical felt like was filmed when it was based
- character arc began and finished and just the right point. As put by my colleague we’re living in the sequel!!
