The Mission 1986
Man, I really wanted to love this. So many things are right up my alley: lavish production design, superb location filming, spiritual themes, a stacked cast (De Niro! Irons! Neeson!), and one of my favourite scores by cinema’s greatest composer.

It’s hard to talk about this one without sounding hyperbolic, but, for me, this movie actually exceeded the insane level of hype surrounding it. Far surpassing the first movie, this is top tier blockbuster filmmaking, with everyone operating at the peak of their powers. A true sci-fi epic. Masterful stuff.
