What a load of shit!
I quite like the premise to this movie, I feel like there is a good idea for a film in here somewhere. Everything else is terrible, SO many unlikeable characters being chased by stupid killing machines. It’s mainly played for laughs, of which, there are zero to be had here, any points I give this is for the concept and the odd death scene, other than that, I can not recommend this in any shape or form whatsoever.
I hate, hate, hated this film. AVOID.
A Robert De Niro Gangster film which is BORING as fuck.
Honestly, this was so bad, not much of anything happens apart from Bobby speaking to a camera, which I hated, 2 performances from our star and a couple of mob hit scenes.
De Niro has had flashes of his best self in Joker, Analyze This and Silver Linings Playbook in recent’ish memory but gone are the days of his imperial acting prowess in classics such as Goodfellas, Heat and Casino, this film just made me wish I was watching those instead.
Absolutely avoid, Robert De Niro is capable of much better than crap like this.
A good time for the family, full of colour, great songs and decent performances.
I don’t know too much about the controversies surrounding this adaptation, so don’t understand the seeming hatred for this online, I was expecting some kind of dud. Oh boy, what a load of guff! Marginally better than the original though.
It’s very unique and technically very imaginative in terms of its design, sound and animation with lots of Japanese flourishes that actually made me smile. Other than that though I found this story completely banal and horribly written. DC do some great animation films, this is not one of them. Please see Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm, The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 and 2 or Batman: Under The Red Hood for far superior Batman animated films.
