Thinking about the time a friend remarked on the number of cats out there in the world, how they're all the same in a way, and yet we chose to focus our attention on just one to love. I had felt defensive / protective, thinking of Raindrop, how it doesn't matter how common she is, as a domestic shorthair with tabby fur.

That feeling was expressed on screen when all the "creepers" gathered in enormous numbers to grieve over their…

Movie night with my beloved cat, Raindrop, on her 5th birthday. Ordered a heart-shaped pizza and cracked open a Lil Buddy, then went on to cry for an hour and a half.

Pretty stressful to watch right from the beginning. I kept worrying about the cat falling out the boat and wondered when it was gonna eat something. A bleak, beautiful film.

Made me look over at Raindrop a lot because she also escaped a flood happening in Texas. Then she looked up whenever she heard meowing and barking on the TV.

A Litany for Survival: The Life and Work of Audre Lorde

    ★★★★

I watched this with a group of friends on Audre Lorde's birthday, 2015, and a lot of us had the idea that, since this was associated with PBS, that most of the documentary would be a dry old man's voice narrating the life and work of Audre Lorde, giving us a monotone but informative view of who she is BUT IT'S NOT—it lets Audre Lorde do most of the talking and she has a great way of delivering all her thoughts like they need to be written down to be reblogged later for years. She's so engaging.
