The Batman 2022
For the longest time I was on the fence about whether I enjoyed this movie or The Dark Knight more. Both are obviously fantastic films, but having recently watched both, I think I finally have to give the edge to The Batman.
The main things I enjoy about this movie more is how visually unique it is. Through most of The Dark Knight, Gotham just looks like regular Chicago. But in The Batman the city looks so unique. I found…

28 Days Later 2002
Figured I’d kick off the New Year by watching a movie I should’ve watched years ago (if it wasn’t so damn difficult to do so). Plus I get to start the New Year like I ended the old one: watching some Cillian Murphy.
Easily the scariest depiction of Zombies I have ever seen in fiction. The combination of visual appearance and how they are presented in this motion picture is second to none. Had me jumping multiple times in my…

Only Ryan Gosling could take that damn scorpion puffer jacket and make it look cool
Bryan Cranston was a character I especially enjoyed watching this go around. He made the most of his limited screen time. While the whole movie is obviously fantastic, the opening sequence is still probably my favorite scene. Incredibly tense but not over the top.

MacGruber 2010
I enjoyed this way more than I was expecting. I’m not surprised that the reviews of this movie are so low, as this movie tries to be as absurd and crude as it possibly can. That formula isn’t going to work for everybody, but it definitely worked for me. Some truly hilarious moments throughout. I don’t think I’ve seen many Will Forte movies, but he was fantastic in this.

Emilia Pérez 2024
Ha ha. Very funny, Netflix. Now please release the version that earned 13 Oscar nominations.
I heard a lot of people online give the musical numbers a lot of shit, but I truly didn’t anticipate them being this putrid. It’s not even that the songs weren’t memorable, they were straight up bad.
Even if you cut out the musical numbers, which were completely unnecessary, you’re still left with a boring plot that’s stretched out over way too long of a…

Dune: Part Two 2024
I feel it will take time to truly unpack my feelings about this movie, but my visceral reaction says that this was nothing short of a monumental milestone in film. Every facet of filmmaking working together to make this world come to life, and I was enthralled the entire time.
More specifically, Javier Bardem was one of my favorite parts of this movie. I really hope he is given award buzz as a best supporting actor because he was phenomenal.…
