  Whiplash 2014

  I had high hopes for Whiplash. From the moment I saw the trailer I knew this had some potential. Throw in a few Oscars, and that anticipation grew. Finally, I had the time to take a look. Let me tell you, I underestimated Whiplash. The editing, the cinematography, the acting, the sound, it's all there. Even the possible inspirations were fantastic, from the Fincher-esque coloring, to the Full Metal Jacket-like insults of J.K. Simmons. With just a couple more to watch from 2014, Whiplash is my favorite so far from the past year.
