  Waarom voelt dit meer “ouwemannencinema” dan The Irishman?

  Waar The Irishman een meesterlijke deconstructie was van wat Scorsese decennia geleden zelf had groot gemaakt, getuigt Killers of the Flower Moon weliswaar van een even groots vakmanschap – op het tegenovergestelde zul je de filmmaker nooit betrappen – maar ook van een man die te verliefd is op zijn eigen filmisch lexicon. Het sjabloon van het sardonische gangsterepos weerhoudt deze gitzwarte geschiedenisles ervan enige daadkrachtige impact te hebben.

  Incredibly naïve and exaggerated, but also one of the most joyful, vibrant, colourful, emotional, cheerful, and positive experiences I've had at the movies in a long time. Might be a 'first world' film, but damn, Rocca rocks.
