    The Brutalist

An epic yet rather usual tale of immigration and the voice of an artist, this is a movie of two halves. The first does well of immersion and Brody is good at playing up all the highs and low of someone dropped into late 1940s America. It seems that every character (including Brody) have some sort of ulterior motive to which it makes difficult to connect or understand why certain plot points are even included.  The second half goes off…

In the words of RDJ, in Tropic Thunder ‘SURVIVE’.
This black cat got no quit. A very simple yet stunning animation follows a very regular feline in a recently post human world as a biblical flood forces him on an adventure. An example of writing yourself into a corner and reverse engineering a way out. As good as Longlegs is, the use of dues ex machina to leapfrog over plot details takes away from Lee’s development/intelligence as a FBI agent. Maika Monroe was really good as a new age Clarice, and I did enjoy her connection to Longlegs, but that felt a but overcooked. Part 3 is what loses it for me, in a mashup of Se7en and Silence of the…
