  Really fantastic and kind of unassailable. The step-son was so great. I watched it in two chunks, on two flights, to and from Miami. I see that my friend Charlie didn’t really like this when he was much younger, but I bet he has the patience and perspective now. Not exactly a young man’s movie, unless you’re a massive dorkazoid maybe.

  I bet I’ll like it even more if I watch it again. When that guy says “perfecto,” that’s awesome. The fork lift scene, that’s awesome. The way Mira Sorvino looks so beautiful, that’s awesome. 

  I don’t see many people writing about the politics the way they all are about comparable-but-worse movie, Local Hero. I thought there were some funny send-ups of the way stuff is.

  Could make a good double feature with Ishtar

  Sort of a “what if the matrix was made by morons with no style or swag?” It is affecting, or punishing, but it’s still really meritless — exactly the kind of pandering slop that the big fat middle of the bell-curve will swear up and down that they loved and resonated with. Not me though — I’m either genius or stupid, and I still see real beauty in the world.

Following
