I watched this with Mary and she was really mad that the name "Princess Mononoke" was never uttered. All she could keep talking about after the fact was "who even WAS Princess Mononoke?" To which I said, the real Princess Monoke was the friends we made along the way.
(in actuality, the wolf girl was Princess Mononoke)
ALL THAT ASIDE the visuals were outstanding and I loved a more complex Fern Gully-style plot for a Ghibli movie (the real problem with the earth is always man, idn't it?). Deducted some points for some half-asleep voice acting, although maybe that's on me for going the dubbed route.
