here’s to more meaningful films in 2025 🌻
(i missed a lot of 2024 logs)
it’s fun but a little outdated. perfect kinda film with a beer tho
i’m sorry but scorsese and tarantino STILL manage to have my undivided attention for 3 hours. here’s what i loved:
- how the narrative wrestles with faith and religion, belief and humanity
- andrew garfield - he was terrifyingly amazing
- it’s examination of persecution and presenting it as a wicked problem
- choosing to show it from christianity’s pov but also keeping it unbiased
- the sceneries. just the overall vibes 🌊
Meh. The movie doesn’t have a lot to offer other than sheer shock value. The writing is god awful, characters are treated extremely unfaithfully, and the storyline in general feels like a comically expensive Sunday morning cartoon. I couldn’t immerse myself even if I wanted to.
I’ll give it a 2/5 just for its amazing visual effects.
