    Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

Starting to believe the central conflict in these movies is about birth or parenthood anxiety. The endless dark hallways are the birth canal. The poltergeist-like home disturbances are the baby kicking. “He is alive now.” Giving birth is like pulling a demon from another dimension and giving him earthly life.

“Tobi” may be referencing Toby from Labyrinth wherein another demon, the Goblin King, was trying to steal babies.

The indoctrination of little girls to procreate and “make him flesh.”  The constant filming and surveillance represents the medicalization of the natural, beautiful process of giving birth. Makes ya think 🤔

Maybe this movie is about the distance between generations, with the Boomers represented by Moody and Farmer Green, Gen X represented by the kids, and the Klowns representing a future (or maybe past) generation. Each group's perspective is inscrutable to the other groups, increasingly so as the time/space gap widens further. By the time you go from Boomers to Klowns, the gap is so immense that it becomes indistinguishable from the indifference of the universe.

Love the idea, bad guy was cool, but it’s just not very fun. I could get into it as a comedy, but it’s really just torture porn

Who am I kidding putting this on my watch list. I just read about the Kangaroo scenes, and it sounds like they make Cannibal Holocaust look like a Disney Movie. I get why they’re in there, I don’t know if it’s justified, but I don’t think I can watch either way. Idk tho, part of me is like, maybe I could FF the animal abuse?

I want to like a movie where two alienated people form an improbable, ephemeral connection, but not so much when the two people in question are racists whose common ground is their disaffected sense of superiority.

"Does marriage get easier?" asks one character while she's in bed with the grandpa she's having an emotional affair with.

That's about the level of self awareness this movie has. Or should I say "rever"? Because L's and R's, amirite? Cringe.

People are saying we can’t open the door to AI. I think it’s way too late. It’s inevitable, always has been. I don’t think we can fight it by castigating movies and art like this that use it sparingly. As Chris says, at least the robots are going to do our jobs for us for a little while before they kill us all.

Is AI the devil we let in our homes by watching this film? Lol

    I liked this…
