Cage and Fichtner playing things almost completely straightfaced in a callback to 90s videostore action flicks is sheer trashy bliss. Casually dropped utterances like "It'd be quite easy to shoot you in the throat and watch you gurgle while I eat my morning grapefruit" have remained lodged in the deep recesses of my brain since 2011. Of course all of this insanity is only amplified by the fact that this was shot for 3D screenings and I love it all the more for that

I want to love this film but I just can't. The execution can't live up to the premise. While I respect that Raimi fully commits to the slapstick it's just so forced that it gets old fast. Also for whatever reason Deadite Ash reminds me of Jim Carreys Grinch.
