  Kagemusha 1980

  Will probably rewatch some time in the future.

  Think my expectations for the film were a bit off. Hearing that this was pretty much a dress rehearsal for Ran had me going in thinking that this was to be around the same level. While Kagemusha matches and even sometimes surpasses Ran visually and in the sense of scale, the drama is where it falters. I just wasn't as connected emotionally with the film.

  Every sentence spoken just has so much meaning and emotion tied into it. 
  Nothing I can write will do this film justice you just have to watch it.

  Put this on yesterday since it was a sweltering hot summer day, and I don’t think there was a better movie I could have watched, especially with friends.

  Just the exact type of movie I’d enjoy.
  A bit stripped-back in terms of substance especially with the themes it throws out there, but it’s so stylish I can’t help but love it
