Leonardo DiCaprio and the crew give this movie a devastating realism and some wild-and-out-there cinematic choices. But it’s all undone by a story that flys all over the map of Carroll’s life. One of our best visual filmmakers, Sam Raimi going sicko mode with all of the visual stylings and storytelling tropes of the western. Silly, over-the-top, and a hell of a lot of fun. With maybe one of the most outstanding casts of the 90s. Chef's kiss!

Wes Craven’s Shocker is a flat out balls-to-the-wall insane film. It’s unfocused, the tone is largely inconsistent and it doesn’t make a lick of sense. Even though I have a lot of problems with the film, they never stopped me from having a total blast. It has a pure manic energy that carries the film for its entire runtime. Craven brings some great atmosphere and a wild sense of humor. Peter Berg is a solid lead and the great Michael Murphy…
