While I appreciate that American Gospel does poke holes in the prosperity gospel, I wish it would have taken out of these over two hours to examine why America so readily accepts this theology. It doesn't examine the American dream nor capitalism, which is the cornerstone for this way of thinking.
It also uses quotes from John Piper who, though he denounces the prosperity gospel, is extremely misogynistic to the point where he has said women exist to serve their husbands and have no right to leave abusive relationships.
I also would have liked to see more interviews with women and people of color.
